You mention in the original post that your hammock is 91" long and that you have compression at the shoulders. This may be directly related. I have found that longer hammocks (120" range and longer) coupled with the wider fabric gives you a lot more room and geometry to find a comfortable diagonal lie. This should completely eliminate any shoulder squeeze and allow a flatter position in the hammock. Many people seem to be greatly concerned about the extra fabric on the edge of the hammock, but personally it doesn't appear on my radar at all. Just treat it like a little extra sheet on your regular bed. As a matter of fact, that extra fabric can be pulled over on top of your TQ for a little extra layer for heat retention or wind protection.
Good luck.
