I just use single or double fishermans knots. I do not like the idea of hog rings.

Loop it, then wrap dental floss around it. tie it off and then sylicone the threads so it wont come apart
I use either a simple knot or 4" plastic cable ties. My preference are the 4" plastic cable ties. Pulled down tight and cut off leaving a small nub, they hold as well as any knot. I have found that I cannot cut off the excess flush as then the cable tie will fail. If a cable tie is not available, then I will resort to a knot, but a knot in shock cord is next to impossible to undo and makes a larger lump at the join than the cable tie. Just my preference.
When you say shock cord pull outs do you mean with Guy lines as tarp tensioners or strictly shock cord Guy lines? Either way I just tie knots in mine.

I don't do anything. I just tie a clove hitch on the end. Hasn't failed me. Ever.
