    Back Yard

Well, I think I have finally solved my back yard issue. Due to the fact I only have three trees 30ft or more apart this made my back yard non-hammock friendly. I solved that by purchasing two 8ft 6x6 treated lumber post. Now we can Hang! I placed them about 13 feet from my Bradford Pear. I will attempt an over night hang tonight. I am not a carpenter and digging a hole was a whole lot easier than making a hammock stand. I can only hope that 24 hours has been enough time for the cement to set up. I also pray that the 6x6 post are strong enough.

Thanks Thom. I got the general idea from a pic that Rip Waverly had posted here.

Looks like a solid project, I'd wait 48 hours if you used the yellow quik-crete sack...

    Looks great though!

I hope your pole was a bit easier to install than Rip's.

I was the hired help for that project. It's amazing what a man will do for a six pack and a pizza

    Your's looks great! Nice job.

Limbs on Bradford Pears have a bad habit of splitting off unexpectedly. Be careful.

I really want to do this, but as you can see in the pic below all of my trees are bunched towards the back in a "C" shape around the yard. That would mean placing a post somewhere right in the middle of the yard which would just be weird looking.

Mark, try one in front of the fence and about 18' away from the first big tree on the right.

I had to place my post in the middle and it is weird looking. BUT....I am hanging and that was the goal. If I ever sell of course I will have to dig 'em up.

You are right about that. I am using the most center branches. It seems to be a healthly tree, but will watch it for signs of splitting.
