    Different Stuff Sack Idea

Hey guys, I got sick of stuffing my hammock into an old toiletries bag that I had laying around, so I made my own stuff sack. I wanted to have something that would work like snake skins - IE, I could strap one strap to the tree, slide the hammock out, and strap it to the other tree without it ever touching the ground.

So, I started with a 10"x16" square, sewed drawstring channels in two ends, and added two 8"x8" squares at the seam, folded over, and sewed it all together. These will hold the support ropes. I know this explanation doesn't do it too much justice, so I'll just post pictures.

The only thing I didn't do was add an elastic band in the middle, which can be stretched and wrapped around the whole package. This keeps the suspension from slipping out of the pockets.

What is Santa doing on your table? (3rd picture)

Looks good. I'd like to see more pics of your stuff sack in action... (hammock hanging).

    Thanks!

Santa is a christmas ornament that for some reason hasn't left the kitchen table since we moved in here nearly a year ago.

I'll post pics later this week when I finish my hammock and get the spectra I ordered. I'll probably add an elastic band that I wanted to include, but didn't have at the time.

    on your way

it starts with asking the dentist for laughing gas rather than novacaine. Glue comes next, then ditchweed, followed by south american weed. White powder for the nose, needles for the arm, not far behind.

Making a DIY stuff sack === glue. You're on your way to the hard core stuff soon. So few ever escape that path, once joined.

    nice bag BTW.

Grizz you are showing your age. Glue is crap now. They chnged the formula a few decades ago. It went out shortly after the Xerox machine replaced the mimeograph and the Bic lighters did away with the vast majority of refill lighters. Life just ain't the same any more.

Should we hold an Intervention before it gets too bad? When everyone around you starts looking at you funny as you wax eloquently on the various attributes of your current hammock, and your wife thinks you're having an affair because of all the time you spend on the computer, you'll look back on this day and wonder "why did I start making my own gear?"
