If you really want to confuse people, wear a kilt. That'll freak some folks out big time. "It takes a real man to wear a kilt."

I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

After rereading this thread...I am glad to know that this condition of obsesing over fabric and making things with a sewing machine is normal (kinda) and that therapy and large quantites of pshycotherapy drugs might not be necessary. 'Course I still get weird looks from my wife when I spontaniously jump up from the sewing machine and run to check something on HF.

I've linked to this before, but here they are again...
The "I love the smell of Nylon in the morning" T-shirt
and the
"Chicks Dig Guys that Sew" T-shirt from DIY Tactical.
This thread is great, I'm going to make my wife read it.
She will come to know that I'm not the only weirdo (her words not mine)out there.
She gets a lot of sympathy from our "normal" (unenlightened) friends.
My defense for DIY stuff so far (and it's worked) has been that I don't gamble, do drugs, chase women, or have expensive hobbies, so me & my sewing machine isn't
so bad.
A power tool assisted homemade kilt is my next project
My neighbors already think I'm insane, one reason is mowing the lawn with a battery powered mower in my Sports Kilt. There are many other reasons as well. Wait 'til I get my hammock stand built and start sleeping in the back yard . . .
Man do I love to make things, especially with my thread injector (what a great euphemism for sewing, it sounds . . . aggressive!) Life is good.

Not to mention upholding the machismo inherent in the process.

Booone0, Thanks for posting photos. When I get my newly purchased old Singer running, after patiently learn how to use it a stuff sacks would be a 1st good project.
2nd item may be a silnylon kilt. The pleating will be an interesting challenge. A rain kilt to replace rain pants. Much more air circulation/breathability than even Gore (over rated stuff IMHO) rain pants, pack lighter and pack more compact. With a built in attached tuck away hood, chord locked waist opening it could even double for a poncho.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

I'll be wearing my kilts if I get down to MAHHA. I also have a micro-fiber rain kilt, made from the same material that Burberry rain coats are made from. Ain't I classy. But it don't hold a pleat worth poot.
