    Considering a longer hammock

Currently I have a WBBB 1.1dbl, and a ENO Dbl. a super fly and a diy tarp, I use a Hammock Gear 20 deg 3/4 Phoenix UQ and down bags as appropriate for TQ. I live in the Pacific Northwest, we have some bugs so I'm looking for the integrated bug net. I just can't seem to get into a position to reduce the calf pressure in my black bird to the point that I can sleep thru the night. I have poured thru every thread on the topic and spent hours in the back yard and the field fiddling, I really love this hammock but maybe it's not for me. I'm 5'10" standing up, but about 6'3" sitting down, long torso - 195lbs , plan on motorcycle camping from a touring bike mostly, so weight is not a driving choice factor, comfort is. I was thinking that a longer hammock might be the ticket. I'm considering a DangerBird and am looking for some input from folks who have experience with longer hammocks.

Getting into a longer hammock was by far the best thing I've ever done to improve my lay.

I have a PoppaSmurf 11 ft hammock (same as Dangerbird but without netting and cover), and I love it. I am 5' 10" and I really like the longer hammocks. I have another DIY 11 ft hammock with the shockcord sides and it is also very comfortable.
Have you tried raising your foot end to get rid of the calf pressure? You may need to raise it as much as 4-6 inches above the head end. Try that first. The WBBB's are really nice hammocks.

I am 6'-1" and I am making all my hammocks 11' long now. I have made and bought shorter ones, including WBBB, and I've decided the 11 footers are for me.

BajaHanger, I have tried raising the foot end, as that seemed to be a fix that worked for many, and it did reduce the pressure on my calf just not to a point that it did not bother me. Maybe I'm overly sensitive to it, don't get me wrong, I am really happy with my WBBB from a product perspective, just having a hard time finding a comfy lay. I'm looking for options as I do not want to end up back on the ground... I really appreciate everyone's input and experiences.

Made a few 11' for my friends who are about 6 and a bit. They say it's much more comfortable to his other lays.

I had read that a longer hammock is much more forgiving and less fiddling to get an ideal lay. I got a prototype Buttinasling double layer 11 foot hammock, and couldn't believe how comfy a longer hammock is. No struggling for ideal lay, just lay down and fall asleep.

I see some negatives to a longer hammock, like a longer ridgeline, and the ridgeline will also be higher off the ground, meaning it's more difficult to pitch low to the ground in inclement weather. The benefits outweigh the negatives, in my opinion.

I get the best lay and sleep in a 11' wilderness logic snipe myself. Had the WB Traveler and GTUL and just couldn't find any sweet spot or couldn't get the legs from stressing out all the time..but the longer hammock did the job for me and I love mine.
