    hammock color make a difference?

I know bright colors can attract bees and hornets. Due to some funding issues, i am looking at a DIY gathered end hammock. Anyone notice insects with a preference for certain colors? Even better, an avoidance?

I learned that Midges type of flies are attracted to dark colors. Don't know if you have that type of beasts and if it counts for all bloodsucker insects.

I like natural "foliage" colors; most of my stuff is coyote brown, foliage green, olive drab, black, or camo. If I wind up needing to stealth due to a day not going right on the trail, it makes that easier...

And it's hard to screw up a color scheme like that. Those colors all go together--not that this is a primary concern for me, but it might be for some folks.

I tend to have mostly earth tone colours but I do have a bright yellow tarp and have no issues with insects being attracted to it.

I use permethrin spray on my hammock so bugs are no issue. Subdued colors are appreciated at back country sites. I agree totally with FLRider, sometimes the ability to stealth camp is a very good thing.

Great thread question that I never even really thought about. Sure hope bugs are attracted to pink because I'm getting ready to make a 90" wide pink hammock All of our other items have been earth tones, greens and browns and we've not seen that bugs swarm it...if that helps any.

Mosquitos are known to be attracted to black and flat black more than glossy.

I have found Dark Blue or navy blue was worked as well as Sage or tan. I have had alot of luck with those colors.
