Hello, I'm just taking the chance to chime in.....before my introduction.....

Living near Dusseldorf/Germany, I'm the proud rooky-owner of a DD hammock, type Traveller. Learning the special knots and hitches, getting some Dyneema and scanning trees for the right distances....

Just waiting for the first night......... in a hammock.....

    Bernd

I am coming to the UK in early August. I head home from Heathrow on the 4th. I'm hoping to have a hang around Manchester like the 1st and 2nd.
    Peace Dutch

Dutch, I have a meet up with a group of friends 25th to 29th July in East Sussex if your around you would be more than welcome to join us.
Pity your not around in August, we have the Wilderness Gathering event 16-19th August

Maybe a few of the Brits would like a meet up then as well.

Theres a few of us that head off to Scotland regularly for hangs.

We usually do it through BCUK but only becuase there are more hangers on there. With steadily growing numbers on here, that could easily change.

We need permissions here, but Scotland is much easier and more likely. With a few of us, travelling up is much cheaper.

    This is sounding promising

Yeah I agree. I'm defo up for a Scotland trip. I went up to Fort Augustus last year (right at the end of Loch Ness) and set up the hammock at the lochside. The trees I used leaned out over the loch so it seemed I was suspended in the middle of it. Twas truly awesome.

And I would be keen to meet the mighty D. I've pencilled it into my calendar, assuming it's ok to tag along. If so, I'll bring my flute. If not then no hard felines.

Turnerminator, can you let me know when the next Haggis Hanging is happening? I can fly to inverness for £40 depending on the time of year.

By the way, although I've been on several one-nighters (about 8 so far), next wednesday I'll be out for my first ever 2 nighter! At last, I'll have cause to use the trowel I bought a year ago! Reeeeally looking forward to that...

    Thumbs up Count me in!

Did anything ever happen with this?

I'd be up for some group hangs in England and Scotland, maybe even throughout other parts of Europe, maybe even Wales (lol, just kidding).

Is the general consesnsus to join BCUK instead, or is something happening here?

    Dan

    Hey Dan,

Yeah it did. Flatfishy and I got together and hung out for a night in the Bristol area. It was great to meet another hanger and see some of the tricks they'd picked up over the years. We keep trying to arrange a second date but haven't done so yet.

I do keep tabs on BCUK yeah, but haven't set anything up through it yet (more due to me being slack and not checking it regularly than anything else).

Ha ha, well, if anything happens I'd like to be kept in the loop
