... when it gets wet, it's the worst insulation.
just curious to what type of sleeping "bag" insulation you are using and why?
thanks

hammock hunter and gatherer ....
I have a down UQ and TQ -just don't get it wet and you'll be fine
Down, because it's the best warmth to weight ratio out there and I don't get my sleep stuff wet.
down tq and uq
1. warmth
2. weight
3. compress-ability

Most shells are water resistent. So they are hard to get wet. If you get any bag wet through and through they suck. Not just down.
But if your against down there are synthetic options available. Many folks like down and many others like synthetic. Each have benefits, including lower cost for synthetic, lower weight and pack size for down.
Stir Fry is correct that if you soak either they are both virtually useless so be prepared to keep your insulation dry as bast possible no matter what your using.

Down - since 1985. I keep waiting to experience this great wet out people keep predictin'
Just takes slipping off the log while crossing the creek for you to be upside down playing turtle while your gear gets soaked. Or far worse having your yak flood like Arson did last week. Of course again it would not matter what was in your pack it would be soaked and you would be without usable insulation. Accidents happen in the woods....just saying it can happen.

Honestly, today I've hit a darn wall and I'm done messing with any of the synthetics and all the other stuff I've been messing with and going to have to just bite the bullet and go to down. I've wasted too much money and way too much time, and lack of comfort in the process. Just saying.
Won't someone that does all the videos take down and synthetic and try to get them wet say drape them over a line in the rain. check them a 30 min interviles. See how long it takes.
