Smile New DIY Hammock and HH user from Denmark

    Hi Guys.
I've been by this forum a couple of times and it has turned into an amazing collection of good advice for new guys like me.
I bought a Hennessey Safari Deluxe a couple of years ago. Not knowing anything about camping in hammocks, I thought it would be possible to cuddle up with my girlfriend on small camping trips (not practical for sleep though).

But being dedicated to Via Ferrata (also known as Klettersteig), camping on steep mountaisides with trees has totaly converted me into a Hammock believer now To me, the hammock is a gift from heaven!

I have recomended my Hennessey to many of my friends, and I will continue to do so, since I am very happy with my purchase.

But I have 4 children and a wife I would like to share the experience with, and I can not afford 5 more hammocks. So now I'm joining this forum to start making my own hammocks.
The DIY section is perfect for me.

My only problem is that I live in Denmark. I'm having a hard time finding good uncoated ripstop Nylon for my project, but I guess I will take that up in the right Forum.

Best regards to all of you :-)

Welcome to the Forums from Indiana. Just post a question in the DIY section. Somebody will answer soon enough with the information you need. There a lot of Europeans here that can probably guide you.
I got in a fight one time with a really big guy, and he said, "I'm going to mop the floor with your face." I said, "You'll be sorry." He said, "Oh, yeah? Why?" I said, "Well, you won't be able to get into the corners very well."

You might have better luck finding "top weight polyester taffeta" which is my preference for hammock bodies. If I remember correctly the safari is made of taffeta. Ripstop is overrated IMO unless you are a real gram weenie going for the lightest possible rig.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

hi there from northern canada ! shipping can't be worst for you than me, sometimes theres some deals going arround on ebay for roughly 3$/y including shipping.

i didnt want to spend/wait for nylon on my first DIY hammock try so i used coton canvas and built the HH Asym following headchange4u's thread. im pretty happy with the results, the instructions are very clear, and coton is good enough for a cabin.

    Smile Wow....!

What a welcome guys. Makes me feel home right away

I have already been sneaking around in the DIY section, and I'm looking forward to contribute with my own twisted ideas
No doubt hammocking will keep making great changes in the way we camp outside. It's fun to see all the different ideas and developing going on in here.

This is like instructables... but with a selected twist.

Only thing..... I'm in Afghanistan at the moment. Will be back home in a couple of weeks, eager to get started on my own DIY Hammock.
