Hammock fabric softness

Hi everyone. I had a general question that I didn't see covered on here.
My first hammock was an ENO Doublenest. It is rated (I believe) at 400 pounds.
I recently bought a Hennessey Explorer (rated at 300) pounds.
I was kind of surprised that the material had a different texture- coarser, not as ...supple?

Is there a lot of variance in hammock fabric out there with different manufacturers? It just seemed funny that the fabric on my ENO was buttery soft and rated for more weight (maybe manufacturers take some liberty with their specs?).

I only have experience with an eno, but from what i've read on the forum it seems that most people agree that the eno's fabric is really comfy compared to others!

I think Hennessy uses polyester, which doesn't stretch. Nylon is stretchy.

The regular Explorer (not the ultralight model) uses a nylon Oxford weave fabric, while the ENOs use a nylon Taffeta weave. The difference is in the type of the threads and how they're woven together. They're both nylon.

I've never laid in an ENO, but felt plenty in gear shops. If you are looking for that buttery softness in a Hennessy go with the Hyperlight (200 lb max), Deep Jungle (250 lb max) or the Deep Jungle XL (300 lb max).

Those are their spec max out weights. I have a DJ, and my softest hammock by far. My favorite...? Well they are all like my children so I shouldn't go there!

My preference is polyester taffeta. I really like the feel and there is virtually no stretch.

I think that must be what ENO uses. Who else uses that fabric?

The Eno SN/DN is def. waaaaay softer than the Grand Trunk single/double. The GTUL is a really soft polyester.

There are several choices of polyester taffeta at fabric stores, so how do you know which to use ?
