    Reinforcing tarp corners?

I just sold my first diy hex tarp so I could fund a new tarp. I think I may still go with the hex with cat cut but and considering other options. My main question though is, how much is too much?
Actually better yet how little is just right? Everywhere you see these huge patches on the corners but then I ran across some photos of the WL tadpole, almost bought this instead of the fabric to make my own. The corner reinforcements are tiny and everyone seems to love the tadpole. So what are your thoughts on reinforcing the corners on a tarp.

Just as a run down on materials I am using 1.2oz silnylon, half forest green and half brown, I am going to use grosgrain for all the tieouts, and gutterman for thread.

On my DIY tarps, I just make them aesthetically pleasingly sized. First one, I stuck with straight lines and corners, the second one, I wanted to be a little smoother, and tried to do rounded patches. That was such a pain that the third one, I went back to straight lines.
If it were my tarp, I'd probably just reverse the patches (green on the brown side, brown on the green). Some people don't even put patches, and just sew the tieouts onto the rolled hem to direct the forces along the edges.
It's really up to you and your imagination.

It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Yeah I was thinking the same with the color swapping. I have some grey from diygearsupply left that I may use as well. I am also thinking of over complicating it a bit and splitting the tarp in three across the short side and having green for the center strip/ridgeline area, and then the brown on the sides. I think it would look sweet, but will just add more sewing. This method will make my side tie outs easier to reinforce as well, and it would move the ridgeline seam in case there is by chance a leak.

Then again I may go simple due to having a full down UQ to make and zippered bugnet to add to my hammock and a trip mid April that it has to be ready for.

lol Why do we do this to ourselves

Lol it's not our fault. We could stop whenever we wanted! Green center with brown sides sounds awesome.

Did you ever make this tarp? I'd love to see some pictures of it with the green centerline.

That looks awesome. Thanks for sharing the pictures. Did you end up not having a seem on the ridgeline?

No problem and no seam on the ridgeline. I have done 4 without a seam and love it.
