    What about Lawson?

I never hear or read anything about the lawson hammocks.
Who owns one, what are the expiriences?
I am thinking about getting one for my son.
I seem to like the complete enclosed systems like my NX 250. Next one I gonna get for myself will be swiss made...but my son likes the Lawsons. CLARKS price tag is just too big the get him one for now...
His second choice is the Lawson, so what's good, what's bad, yay/nay?
    Thanks guys!

Honestly never seen one. Prodded by your post I surfed to their site. First thing I saw was 'only 4 pounds'.
Looks great for car camping or paddle camping as far as the weight goes. Far too heavy for me to consider for backpacking.
This says nothing of the comfort of one....maybe one will show up some day at a group hang and I'll get to try one.

I am aware of the weight, but that's not really an issue for him because we either walk 15 min to the creek to camp or in a kayak. I am not convinced yet, but that's the one he wants because it looks a bit like dads Clark. More important is build in bug protection which it has. Sure I can get that lighter, but..
    He's 9.
I'd prefer to get a wbbb cause dad could use that one to.. ( didn't say that loud.. And it's more expensive too)..

Still I'd like to hear experiences
I wonder if it is not a bit tippy ?

Get what you want the first time, because if you don't, you will still want it, and will eventually buy it, anyway.

I didnt look for a price on the Lawson, how are them compared to a Blackbird? Just curious, it really would make a nice paddle camping rig.

The Lawson hammock had been discussed a few times. As I recall they can be tipy and pretty much require a pad or custom UQ for insulation.

I tried one out, and it was tippy. I didn't like it and it was too heavy. Even though your son is only 9, I think he would be happier with something else. Yes, I understand get what you want the first time, but if you do, you probably won't be happy and end up getting something else. There is probably a reason no one on this site has one. So, take it for what it's worth.

take a good look. The camping hammocks here all share the trait of making an envelope or trough where the sleeper ends up enclosed in the bottom of a fabric sling. The result is a very stable sleeping system. The Lawson is a flat lay hammock similar to the Hatteras hammocks where the occupant is on top of a flat cloth or rope table. Minimal enveloping of the sleeper, higher center of gravity, much easier to tip out of.
