Has anyone with DIY interest visited these folks near Allentown, PA?

I'm interested in their 10 piece sampler of 2-3 yard samples of .75 oz nylon fabric for $60 + shipping. (Weight in HF scale more likely 1.0 oz or higher)

Also on the feel, knot holding and splicing of the dacron line in strengths suitable to hanging a tarp.

I've searched HF on this company, and threads immediately sidetrack, so:

• Please: No reminder, again, that sailmaker's weight per yard is for a smaller yard and needs to scaled up by about 25% to get more familiar "true square yard" raw fabric wt.
  
  No comment on true weight vs coated vs uncoated weight. That always holds.
  
  What does matter, imo, is whether the fabric is coated, and with what and for what purpose, if known.

I've looked into this fabric before. Done quite a bit of research on it actually. My understanding is that the .75oz stuff is 20D ripstop with an industrial DWR finsih. (A water logged kite is a heavy kite) I do not believe it is calandered however.

I too would like confirmation from someone who has bought from this shop before.

I have purchased from them in the past several times (mostly spectra and dacron line) and they have been fine. Quick shipping!

I've purchased dacron line from them (50 lb. test I think). I chose kite line because I wanted something cheaper than spectra that would be easy to splice for prototypes. It's a softer hollow braid, which makes it easy to splice, but may snag fibers out of the strands if caught on rough materials like Spruce twigs.

Back when I was making a lot more kites than I do these days I purchaced nearly all of my materials from them. The owner, Steve Ferrel is a great guy and is great to deal with.

BTW, he also carries a good selection of various types of lightweight rods and rigid tubing and will custom make end fittings and ferrules (possible interest to the DIY bridge hammock folks)
