Under Insulation Options for HH Scout

Hey, I've got a Hennessy Scout, which I've used for about 2 years or so. It's way more comfortable than sleeping on the ground, short of having more pad than I can afford..
Anyway, as you all know, the downside of a hammock is that they can get ridiculously cold at night. I personally have slept in my hammock with a 25 degree down sleeping bag in 25 degree weather with some wind and a heavy frost, and basically nothing besides my squished sleeping bag between me and the ground, although calling it sleep might be a little bit of a stretch...

Anyway, I'm thinking I don't exactly want to freeze every time I go backpacking (I'm actually comfortable down to about 35 with nothing under me, depending on humidity), so I'm curious what sort of suggestions you guys might have.
My primary limitations are that I don't really want to spend more than $50 max, or gain more than a pound. And that my hammock is bottom entry...

What sort of suggestions, personal experience, advice do you all have?

Hello Hendan, do a search for DIY underquilts or UQ's. Failing that, try CCF mats.

Definitely looks like you are a warm sleeper - an inexpensive option for you would be a CCF mat that you can lay on inside your hammock. If you want to go UQ, you probably need to go DIY
