A question on synthetic insulation

What is "IX"? And where do can it be purchased?

I am looking for a synthetic to use in a DIY under quilt.

IX is Insultex, and you can find it at DIY Gear Supply. It's lightweight, but bulky and barely breathable by all accounts. If sewn right (there's a guide on the DIY Gear Supply page), a three-layer underquilt should be pretty good down to freezing for most folks according to what I've read.

Primaloft will compress better than Climashield but it wont hold up as well over time. You need downproof fabric and lots of quilting. It sill won't compress like down...
