whoopie tarp pull outs with zing it

I see that zing it appears to be the ideal cord used for staking out tarps. I'm getting ready to make some shock cord pull outs and I'm wondering ... Why haven't i heard of anyone turning their zing it into whoopies and just adding the shock cord to it? Wouldnt this be the easiest and cleanest way to go about it?

One of the things this forum has taught me is that "easiest' and "cleanest" are concepts that are very relative. Each person views tasks differently. Some think whoopies are the greatest thing since sliced bread, others think there is way too much fiddle factor involved in them.

Try it, report on it, give us some feedback. Sounds like a good idea. I have a fixed loop in my tie outs because I find I just stretch them out and stick them. On my wife's tarp I have prusiks and she likes them for ease and adjustability. If it seems easiest and cleanest to you, then go for it. When I am in the woods, part of the joy is that I am the only one I have to please.

The only problem I have found with using whoopies for this type of application is that once under load they are a bear to release tension. For tarp tie outs it may be ok since you can pull some slack from the tarp to lift the whoopie loop up over the stake. Just don't snug it down tight on something like a ground hog stake or you will more than likely have to pull the stake to loosen the whoopie.

One downside is that you won't be able to set a wide tarp any closer to the ground then the minimum length of the whoopie.

I made some UCRs (whoopies older brother) for my tarp guy outs, but didn't like them.

Just give it a try. You might start the next craze (if Dutch isn't releasing more new gear that day).

I concur! Had them as ridgleline but found them hard to release.

I made a set out of 2.2 zing-it and didn't like them either. I ended up removing the woopie loop and putting pursinks made of 1.75 zing-it continuous loops. Put a loop in the end of the 2.2 guyline and connect it to the pursink with #0 s-biner. Easier to add and remove tension, and simpler if you want to tie to a tree instead of a stake.

So I've been trying to splice some zing it and needless to say it's now going to well lol. I did make my tarp tensioners and based on the feedback I think ill pass on the whoopies. Thanks for the responses.
