I think the JRB sleeves are but I question this as well, can anyone comment?
IMO this is an item that can be baffled but I seriously question the “Return on Investment” (cost and time). Heat loss will occur at the sewn-through points but I’m not convinced it would even be noticeable. If we did a horizontal baffle, the wall would have to be a ring going around the arm otherwise it would deform the sleeve and impair lofting; sewing that together would be fun…TDF difficulty 4/5 (for the record, I’d consider a BlackRock Clone 5/5)! The easier, vertical baffles would allow the down to shift the length of the arm during natural motion (swaying our arm as we walk), this would force the down to the wrist resulting in the “Popeye” Forearms I joked about above. The Sewn-Through option (a.k.a..Path of least resistance) took me 2.5 hours start to finish and I’m happy with the output…question is, will -30c change my mind?
That is correct, I folded the flat sleeve so the outer shell is inside and sewed up the arm starting at the wrist, it was easier to absorb the difference in side length in the arm pit.
LoL….Taming of the Beast is on the list!
