If you hang them doesn't the fill sink to the bottom over time? Assuming your baffles are vertical.

I'm not really concerned with it, as I generally need to redistribute the down when I unstuff it at camp anyways, but, now that you mention it, my underquilts hang horizontally (as they would under the hammock), and my sleeping bags all have horizontal baffles and hang by the foot end, so I guess it just naturally hangs the "right way"

I believe they need to "breathe" so not sure about keeping them in a lidded plastic container.

Mine is in a huge cotton drawstring bag. The JRB UQ is in a large mesh bag.

Oh, holy crap! Something new to worry about! My question is: Is it vital and necessary for optimum performance, to store my UQ hung up, stretched out, or will just leaving it jammed into my pack/ bugout bag have a negative effect on it? Now ya got me worrying.

The general consensus is that keeping insulation stored compressed for long periods of time will cause the fibers (down or synthetic) to lose their ability to fluff when uncompressed.

Goody! I have a mission for this weekend. Maybe it will get hung in the attic all fluffed out for the winter.

I picked this up at Ikea for all of my down gear. I don't have the room to hang everything, but the compartments in this storage organizer are big enough for my 3 season bags. You might have to take out a shelf and have a super shelf if you have some serious winter gear though.

I have a couple of down Marmot sleeping bags. The storage bags are so big, I just put an UQ in the end.

A couple of weeks before a campout, I hang them up in my garage horizontally (like they were attached to my hammock) to let them loft out.

Were I to purchase something, a mesh laundry bag would be #1 & a King Size pillowcase would be #2.
