In Denver the only place I could find braided was at the Army Surplus store. I'd try there maybe?

WAL-MART - in the fishing section. It's sold as trot line for catfishing. Same thing. Braided. At least it is here in Alabama. I'm not sure how redneck other WalMarts are in the country.

That sounds like something Wile Y. Coyote would say in a Roadrunner cartoon.

Don't have hard numbers at hand, but my guess is somewhere around the 30 or 40 lb mark. I've snapped it trying to untangle a bear bag before (ask Duffy some time about "free entertainment"...), and it was strong enough for me to worry about it cutting my hands--which led to me using a stick to wrap it around before breaking it. I had to pull pretty hard.

I've definitely used it to lash fifteen or twenty pounds to my bike's rack before, and it held like a champ.

I think GrizzlyAdams mentioned the breaking strength is roughly 50#. A lot of people use it for their tarp guy lines and for some lite duty soft shackle prusiks. I see it kind of like Duct Tape... it can fix ALOT of stuff

Braided mason line is great for some things and cheap to boot. Just be aware it stretches. I know it's been used for tarp ridgelines by many, myself included. Back in August at the John Rock Hang in WNC I had a bad, wet experience with it in a thunderstorm. The rain came down so fast and heavy, it stretched the mason line ridgeline and the tarp sagged enough to end up getting my whole rig wet. Lash-it for me from now on.

If used as prussiks, the wraps can melt together if enough friction is applied when sliding it. Makes it hard to release tension.
