Need some info/inst on DIY self tensioning tarp lines
Basically you can do it two ways...
1. you can use shock cord as your complete tie out
or
2. you can get your normal tie out line and tie a length of shock cord in parallel with it

I just made some. I made 4 ft whoopie slings out of some braided mason line I had. To that I took a 12 inch piece of shock cord and tied a double fishermans knot to make a loop. larkhead that loop on to your tarp tie out. To adjust just tension the whoopie sling until you stretch the shock cord about an inch. Works great!

...surgical tubing is also used.
Thanks so much everyone! That's exactly what I needed. Now just need some time.
Here's my method ... cheap, simple and works like a charm. Not to mention weighs nearly nothing compared to the surgical tubing method.

I girth hitch a loop of shock cord directly to the tarp tieout.
I then girth hitch my cordage to the loop of shock cord.
Simple, and it also acts as a fail safe (the loop of shock cord will snap before my tarp tears if someone [namely myself ] falls over the line).
