The shock cords are still holding up the quilt, the hooks just help guide the two corners.

I guess it still seems to me that since you put 4 hooks on your quilt, that you could seemingly not use shock cord at all. I see now that with only 2 hooks you need the cord still. I guess your point is that you keep the correct diagonal pull on the quilt so that it doesn't slide down and create a gap under your butt, is that right?

I don't know if you could do away with the shock cord suspension with just the hooks. While they do hook at four corners, there is more to mating the underquilt to the hammock than just the four points. Also, they are not that resilient - they will bend a little. I don't know if it would be a good idea to have all the weight of the quilt ridding on four hooks.

Nice mod, Sgt. Rock. I like it. Mitten hooks or other small plastic hardware would also do the job.

I'm wondering if this might be the turning point for under quilt attachment. New innovations are around the corner, I can feel it. I think a combination might be apropos: clip on the shoulder/foot area, and shock cord opposite?

I really like your ladder system -- daisy-chain loops along the edges. I wonder what other hammock mods can be attached using this system? Modular quilts, the HUG, the winter HUG that you designed?

I suppose that you could use the hug with one of these - eliminating the bottom shock cord.

I'm replacing some of my soft shackle prussiks with so Ti version on my continuous ridge-line, It doesn't change the weight a gram on the test version I've made - but it works so much smoother. And that is what I would say in general about the Dutchware I've tried so far - it could be done with other solutions (like soft shackle prussiks, or mitten hooks) but so far it has worked more smoothly with the Dutchware solutions.

Sgt, dug this thread up to see of you're still using this setup or you've found a newer method. Would you make any changes if you built this again?

I recently ordered a little packet with hooks from Dutch. Thanks for the instructions on how to set them up.

Yep. My ladders are shorter now but I'm still using this method years later.
