I've got a Janome, and I find the automatic threading thingy to be quite good. It sure beats all the squinting and holding the tongue just right like I used to have to do before. That was on a Bernina, but it stayed at my parents' house when I got married and moved out ten years ago.

I can't quite get the hang of the overlocker we got though. Maybe I need to go to one of those lessons!
It's bad luck to be superstitious.

I signed up for a sewing class last winter but it got snowed out and just never got around to signing up for another one. Thanks for reminding me to do so Dutch.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

I live above a sewing/quilting shop, and they're a Bernina dealer, among other things. I brought my grandmother's Elna in to see if they could get a part for it (ended up replacing the cam mechanism myself), but I have surprised them a couple times by coming in and asking for bits and bobs like elastic and velcro, and then coming in a few days later with a hat or book bag made out of ghastly heavy canvas or whatnot. I don't think they know what to make of me. It's hilarious.

Don't stun 'em with all the jargon, Dutch!

It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Formerly known as Acercanto, my trail name is MacGuyver to some, and Pucker Factor to others.

It's not procrastinating, its proactively delaying the implementation of the energy-intensive phase of the project until the enthusiasm factor is at its maximum effectiveness. - Randy Glasbergen

If you can't tie a tiny fly to a fishing line blindfolded with mittens on the fourth needle on an overlock serger is near impossible to get threaded properly the first thirty times. They give you a special tool to thread it (or at least my wife's has a special tool provided) but it's like trying to pull a thumb tack out of a automobile oil pan using the transmission fluid dipstick.

Use high quality thread and replace the spool before you run completely out.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

"Bless you child, when you set out to thread a needle don't hold the thread still and fetch the needle up to it; hold the needle still and poke the thread at it; that's the way a woman most always does, but a man always does t'other way."

My mother swears by Bernina machines and has told me that I'll never hear the end of it if I buy another brand and it breaks on me. Enjoy yours
