"CowPatty" - First time out in a hammock was with a group of Boy Scouts in a wooded area of a farm. While we were teaching Wilderness Survival skills one of the cows goes up to my hammock and sniffs at it. We all watched as he dropped a big ol' steaming sloppy "Cow Patty" right beside my hammock before snorting and wandering off.

Back in the 90s when the Internet was still new I chose the name arcana to post on message boards. It's latin for "secret or mystery ". Back then I was still "in the closet" so figured it was somewhat a reflection of my personality. It's still not something I openly broadcast. I usually let people figure it out. 73 is the year I was born.
On my first backpacking trip with my kids I carried a saw and had our dog tied to my waist. My five year old said I look like a Sawg. (Saw and Dog)

Standing Bear is an Native American Chief that lived during the late 1800's. I came across his name when I saw a cool quote from him. I did a little research on him and found there is some cool history surrounding him.
The quote? "Man's heart away from nature becomes hard."
Shameless The Red has been my nickname for years and years. Pretty much my screen name everywhere I go. Also being an Uber nerd I noticed the initials are STR... Which entertains me. So that's where my name comes from.
