That looks awesome dude! I personally prefer my tarp to be high enough where I can stand. That's a great idea to extend a winter tarp so you had that option. Really cool!

For now I add pull strings. The string is long enough so the stake can be placed in the snow sideways as well.
Thinking of using Dutch biners or S-biners to attach the string to the D-ring on the tarp.

OutandBack, My first choice is tree, bush or other natural anchor that is already there. My second choice is the deadfall and truckers hitch technique on page 105 of Allen & Mike's book. Third choice is ice ax, skis or shovel. Finally, if all else fails I use a stake.
My favorite stakes are a 24" section of thin wall conduit pipe with an eyebolt installed at the top. Look on the Kifaru site for Snow, Sand & Tundra (sst pins).
The SMC Sno-Stakes are the minimum stakes for our conditions.

That's great ill be swapping out the guyline on my superfly for the shockcord. Should make entry/exits alot easier in the middle of the night.
I hope to get back to Colorado soon but for sure im gonna try and make it to the summer hang. Been watching the planning threads. We'll see when the dates get closer.
UPDATE:
Slowly but surely my winter hot tarp project is coming together.
The tarp is in Pennsylvania right now having a pole mod done to eliminate these pullout.
Here is the wood stove am using:
Woodstove with 3"x7' stove pipe packed.

two, think conestoga wagon but with an angled joint / pole connector at the ridgeline to keep the pitch steep in hopes of shedding snow better.
It is a tricky balance to provide maximum room on the inside with out providing a surface for snow to collect.
So the sides should bow out just like having pullouts but with no stakes or lines to deal with.
