Question on boxed end vs differential hems on quilts?

I’ve decided that I am going to attempt make a Karo step underquilt! It seems that the boxed end would be easier than the differential. (If my understanding of differential is correct?)

Could anyone explain the process of making the ends of a quilt boxed? Does this refer solely to the hems being stitched to form a box [] all the way around or are the ends reinforced with an additional piece of cloth? Thanks for any responses!

You'll get cold spots with a karo step underquilt, the down will shift a lot more than longitudinal baffles. Karo step is most often used in top quilts.

If you decide to to go with the longitudinal baffles it will have to be deferentially cut.

Heres a guide for an UQ design that will work.

And here's a calculator for custom dimensions.
