    small sleeping bag??!!

Im in the market for a sleeping bag that has temperture ratings of around 15-20*F, and something that packs and compresses down really small... any one know where i could find something like this? does any one have one of these types of bags... do you like them?

There are tons of sleeping bags like this. If you get a down filled one it will both be light and compress very well.

Yep...a good down bag is what you want. They cost a bit for a good one but it is a good investment.

One thing to consider about down vs Synthetic is getting it wet.

Down beats synthetic in just about every aspect except for staying warm when wet. It loses its loft, and its ability to hold in heat.

    Just fyi.

I have a alps mountainering SB that I've used one time and that was this weekend that I'm to tall for it. It packs down ok. It's synthetic. I'll sale for $50 shipped. I'm 6 foot tall.

I have a North Face Ibex down sleeping bag that I bought in the early 70's that I still use. Paid about $200 for it back then, major layout of cash in those days for a sleeping bag.

Check out the Western Mountaineering website. I did a lot of research and couldn't find lighter bags anywhere for what they offer in warmth. I don't know how they do it. The weight difference to other quality manufacturers was marked (at least for the temp rating I was looking at). They don't come cheap, but for what the offer, they are not expensive. My WM bag is one of my most valued pieces of equipment.

I know some folks don't like eBay, but I got a couple good down bags on there pretty reasonable.
