I will add, My first gathering made me fall in love...with the Gorge, It's a special place.

And I've never met a nicer bunch of folks!

Hmmm I'm new to hanging and Linville Gorge is only 2.5hours away from me so I'm highly considering trying to talk the wife into going.

JUST a suggestion ... if this is her first backpacking adventure ... ya might want to break her in just a bit before you lay the Gorge at her feet. It's a bit rougher than most places and has been known to humble a few experienced hikers in the past.

Ya I'm going to take her in March on some TWRA land. We are just gonna walk in about a mile and set up that way she feels close to the car lol.
