11 mile ky lake canal loop pics

Did 7 miles in yesterday and 4 out this morning. Weather was beautiful yesterday but wind picked up to 35 mph and it was coming off that lake hard. It made putting up that hammock and tarp miserable. It only got down to mid 40s last night but wind chill was in 30s. Had blue foam pad in my wbb and a 20 degree bag on top of me. Never even got chilled. My ridgeline was guitar string tight and the right side of my hammock was rolled up on me. Can you tell what my problem was from the pics? Thanks Trail was marked well and the Barkley side wasn't to hilly but the Ky side was.

It appears as if your angle is off. Try raising your straps higher. That can help with getting a slightly looser RL.

I packed the kitchen sink. It was my first trip. My pack weighed over 40lbs. Ha Ha. I am feeling it right now on the couch.

I had them like 6ft or so. Seems like if they were any higher I wouldn't be tall enough to hook up my tarp ridgeline.

I typically have my hammock suspension higher than my tarp RL. Check out some pics in the gallery of suspensions, it should help. I have had to set up my hammock on trees that were very far apart used my hiking pole to raise the suspension. Most people agree that a 30-degree angle is best but everyone's angle varies slightly. Try it out and report back. By the way, great pics and yes, you do eat like a king on the trail.
