    Nylon vs. Polyester Tree straps

Does anyone know of specific advantages and disadvantages of polyester and nylon for tree straps and other applications?

nylon stretches, polyester doesn't. We opt for polyester because length of our suspension and degree of hang is important, if your suspension is stretching you're ruining this. Why so many people have trouble with ENO slapstraps. For an hour or two in the afternoon frisbee golfing and you wouldn't notice anything... sleeping on them overnight is a whole other story. For camping applications, I use polyester

I use climbing grade tubular webbing and do not notice any stretch. Some folks have stated that you can get some over time. I got the climbing webbing because I could get it at REI on the cheap (30 feet for $12).

Folks at Strapworks have taken good care of me before. I highly recommend them.

Polypropylene is cheap and doesn't hold up over time. It stretches a bit and it also "feels cheap" in your hand. Nylon is kind of cheap but stretches badly. It's not for nothing that they're call "crapstraps." Polyester (aka dacron) is best. It's worth the little bit extra you have to pay for it. All are available in a variety of sizes and colors.
