Detail Man, the picture with the pull out holding the 3 gallons of water is a pretty convincing sales pitch Thanks everybody for the input. I am relieved to know that I don't have to sew these on

    Question:

I like this idea & in fact still have some silicone sealer (sil nylon tarp.) left that I know is a great glue as I've already patched the tarp with it & a small piece of left over sil. Now for my question, as I am now going to add pull outs.
Where to put the tie outs?
Dead center on each side of the tarp?
    Just a bit lower?
    A lot lower?
    Above center?
    Or something else?

I only want to do one tie out per side, even though with my Huge tarp two would likely be better. So what's the "Dope" on double pullouts?

When I set my pullouts , I rigged my tarp the way it would most likely be rigged and hung my hammock, got in, and started pushing out the sides with my hiking pole to see how high or low and how left or right of center I would like them. I have two pullouts on my sides and prefer it that way. The two pullouts are connected by one piece of shockcord and then my line comes off the shock cord, make sense?
    Good luck,

One thing I do like about grip clips is there has been a time or two, that I have moved the grip clips on the tarp for a better tie or pull out depending where I was setup or where the only tie out might be other than using my tarp poles which is a consistant tie out. Not that it makes much difference, just a note.

This is a great method and how I also did mine. My tarps are hex-shaped with cat cuts, about 10' wide. So my pullouts are about 26" down from the ridgeline, and spaced along the length in thirds. This spacing gives me good space under the tarp to move about. It keeps the wind from blowing the tarp against me, and minimizes the chance of touching the tarp with my back and getting wet from frost or condensation, and makes extra room for hanging tandem.

I know this is a super old post, but I am extremely interested in the method you used to attach the pullouts. Did you put the reinforcemnets on the underside or topside of the tarp, I know most put it on the topside, kinda hard to see with the fabric color bein the same? Is the fabric the same 1.1 silnylon or did you use 1.9 for the reinforcements?

Thank you! That is a clearer picture, I've seen that thread before but for some reason forgot about it when doing the searches.
