My wife got me my first camping hammock, with help from me! I settled on a WBBB. I would like to thank all the good people on the forum that took time to answer my questions, even if some else had already asked them! I would also like to thank Brandon and everyone on the forum for the hanging tips. It took a little adjusting but I think I am pretty close to getting the right lay.
As for the review here is the quick version: It took me 10 minutes to fall asleep! Very comfortable. I am 6'7" 215lbs and usually one of the taller if not tallest person in anything I choose to do. Not many of us around I guess. But for those that are taller this is a great hammock. I had plenty of room. Of course I do not have another hammock to compare it to, but I get the feeling the old tent is not going to get much use any more. I am looking forward to going on a group trip sometime, maybe to the George! I know I still have a lot to learn.
It was 52* outside and I used my Big Agnes insulated air core for insulation. Maybe it is my size, but I will be saving for an UQ very soon. Where the pad was I was warm, but it is not very wide and I could see my shoulders getting cold during the night. I did not have a TQ or sleeping bag and that might make a difference, but I can still see the value of the UQ. They are very expensive, but I do have a birthday in March .
In closing THANK YOU! to everyone, all the videos (yes I have seen Shugs and he is a valuable resource, maybe one day we can hang in the piney woods of NC!) and reviews were unbelievably helpful. I cannot imagine that I would have picked out a hammock and understood how to set it up so quickly. I hope you all had a blessed Christmas and have a Happy and Healthy New Year!
