    I bought a Bernina

The area I live has a large mennonite population. There is a pretty good number of people who sew around here and there is a very good sewing shop that is very good at servicing the sewing community. Went shopping for a rolled hem presser foot and I finally broke down and bought a Bernina. It sews like a dream. The needle always stops in the up position. Everything is digital but it is for function above all else. I have been using this Kenmore for 14 years. It's been good to me but it is now replaced. I also get 3 hours of sewing school for free. I'm going to act really helpless at first and then in the end pretend to pick it right up.
    Peace Dutch

That's pretty funny. You should bring int he Bridgeskin and be like, " I made this over the weekend."

Congratulations! I've been wanting a rolled hem foot for a while, but when I get one, I don't think I'll roll out with a new machine. Happy sewing to ya!
    Good luck,

I have a Sears Kenmore I got at a yard sale for $10. It works wonderfully. I also got a Singer for $15 that I just got serviced and it runs beautifully. The Singer has more stitch options, but that is for later when I have better sewing skills.
The place that serviced my Singer had Berninas, and I drooled the entire time I was in there.
    Happy sewing....

You know, I have been considering purchasing a nicer machine, not sure what brand. I don't do THAT much stuff, but do stuff sacks and such from time to time, made a tarp and couple of UQ's. Will do a TQ eventually. My wife has started making stuff also, a few purses, pajama pants for the kids....been using my mom's on Kenmore, which works...but not that great. There is a Bernina shop by my office, but I have never gone in. Are they expensive? Are they really nice? Overkill for stuff I might do?

Speaking of a rolled-hem presser foot, can anyone recommend a good one?

ZQ here....did you go to Hinkletown Sewing? If so...good place. I was there yesterday. I have 2 Bernina's, one as my spare, just in case...great machines!

BTW...there is a little tab you can push that will have the needle stop in the down position...can be handy!
