    It appears you had an overhand knot on the paracord attaching it between the carabiner and the rope.
    Even 5mm cord is not rated and is not for life support.
    I'd suggest goin up to 8mm for your prusik. --Use a double fishermans to close the loop.

    Ahh, the paracord was actually tied with a double figure 8 loop and I meant to say 6mm. I know it isnt much of a difference but I dont think 8 mm would bite into the ridgeline very well using a prusik. What I do is make a big loop using double fisherman's knot then twist it once and tie off in the middle using a double figure 8 so this creates redundancy. So instead of having one loop of 8 mm rope I actually have two loops of 6 mm rope holding the hammock up on both ends. I learned that technique through an anchor setting class at my rock climbing gym. Thanks for responding back!
