I'm almost 50lbs heavier than you so don't let this discourage anything you want to try. But I have tried the becket hitch with dynaglide on CLs of Amsteel and 1/2in strap at the end of the hammock and dynaglide line has a tendency to slip right around the toggle and through the knot. I don't think it's a coating issue because the strand I used use to be a UCR. It needs an additional overhand knot to hold for me. Lots of compression on the Amsteel CL as well.
Actually that is sort of what I was expecting would probably happen
I am working on the same idea...... I just made 4' Mule tape straps and will install Dynaglide UCRs to that. I use a Amsteel loop to Larks head to my hammock and it has a Diamond knot on it. I have a sliding friction loop on the UCRs to hold it together. I was at 62 grams with 1" straps...... Hope to be down to 40-50 range but will see.
I watched curiously what you have all in your packing list. It was just like on a long handing out of christmas presents. I think I will watch your video several times and try to learn form it. I say thank you. There was one thing I would liked to have seen in more detail - your DIY micro iron stove and how you have made it.
That would work, The only possible reservation I might have is water running down the line, but that may be a non-issue.
Just to see myself I went out and tried what I was talking about in my hammock lab. Way too slippery. I wonder if there is a solution to that?
What about a loop of muletape larksheaded to the hammock? I have some muletape on order and that's what I was planning to do.
I was hoping it would lol. Will probably be a couple of weeks before my muletape arrives from across the puddle. The only problem I can think of, assuming it holds fine would be water running down onto the loop. Muletape will absorb water more than any dyneema line?? So instead of dripping from the line it might go into the muletape... right? Not sure but will be fun to test
