Backyard Hammock Stand

I'm looking for plans to make a backyard hammock stand. I've seen Risk's, and while it looks sturdy, I'm not completely sold on his idea. Are there any other plans out there that are similar without the bar across the top? I was thinking about using a 4x4 for the posts, and beefing up the supports near the base to compensate for the lack of top support. I just want to make this as much like a tree as possible, and the top bar made it less like an outdoor situation. I don't want to have that bar in the way when I pitch my tarp over my hammock also. Any ideas?

I've been using this stand for several years now. It started out as a Hatteras hammock stand. I added upturned extensions to the ends for my HH ULBA. The tensioner across the top isn't necessary but it pulls the ends together. Takes some of the slop out of it when you weight the hammock.

It can be knocked down also to be used at State Parks, etc.
