well - in needing to switch some systems around & move some monies -
i'm trying to sell a brand new, never used custom hammock gear uq.

materials: cuben inner / SevenD outer
downfill: 14oz. of 900 FP
dims: 45"W x 65"L
temp: 0*
weight: ~21oz.

i know they just had the BF sale- so unless someone wants custom UL gear, this may struggle on the boards here. no big deal - if no one wants it, i'll gladly keep this little gem.

From my extended experience as a buyer of Rip Waverly's hand-me down previous thoughts, they are better than many deep ponderings.

Well, actually this UQ is the result of his deep pondering; I have the same-sized shallower older brother w/o the unique hi-zoot fabrics on BOTH sides of this UQ. I'm using it, warm, every night under trees, and especially enjoying the HG width for changes of sides and diagonals.

65" length, imo is just right for full length. Head on (insulating) pillow and this IS full length for a six footer. (A foot pad ought always to be in place to stop conductive loss at heel or toe.)

The buyer of this one will be pleased.

Tell the lucky and all the envious lurkers what color the outer shell is, Rip. We know the cuben lets the owner visually revel in the down.

What's the deal with the Cuben inner besides the weight savings? Doesn't breath does it? When you designed it, what was your thinking behind it? Vapor barrier? Seems like a very specialized piece of gear.

most importantly, i was interested in the next specialized offering in the advancement of hammock equipment, and wanted to be a part of that
innovation. plus, SEEING the 900 fill down sounded cool.

being non-breathable, the vapor barrier is most effective when used at the lower temperature range - is a reason i built this with winter in mind. but to that:

Due to the sewing holes it is not considered a true vapor barrier anymore. Yes, all of those tiny holes can allow moisture to infiltrate the inner shell....my test was see if the moisture could evacuate at the same rate, thus, keeping the interior of the quilt relatively dry and "clump free"

the SevenD while an awesome fabric, would likely excel in the colder, drier northeast, and i built this quilt based on my personal winter history living in ohio. just standing outside so far as winter rolls in out here in the PNW, i get wet as the mist and fog hangs in the valley. while the SevenD should handle this just fine, i was not accounting for the milder, wetter winter i'll likely see in the trips i'll be taking out here. to do it again, i'd built it with a cuben inner, and standard 1.1 or even better, a pertex outer shell. (any one got some pertex??

so , after all that, i'm totally impressed with this quilt, and would only change the outer shell material for my new environment, merely to assuage my paranoia, though adam stands behind the SevenD's performance.

not to drift, but thats why i've posted up some other pieces of kit, as i'm tailoring new sets of gear better specialized to adapt to the changes in my typical backpacking trips based on new geography.
