I don't but my wife does. If she gets too warm she just uncovers. I think you will be fine as long as you want to carry a heavier quilt.
I have a 20° sleeping bag I use as a top quilt, even in the summer, and I just use more or less of it as required (read venting).
Good luck,

I have used a 20 as well. Simple enough to stick a leg or two out and vent when needed.

before I got a topquilt this spring, I used a 15 degree bag year round without any problems. That's why they call then "3 season" quilts.
In SC during the summer, you don't want anything to do with a TQ, or UQ. Too hot, too muggy, and too buggy.

joker, I use a 20 degree bag in the summer, but northern michigan summer nights can easily be in the 40's. When really hot, I vent or get rid of it altogether. One really hot humid night, low of 75, sticky humidity of 99%, I had nothing on, no covers and poured water from my water bottle over me and it soaked the hammock. Pure bliss, I was cool and comfy the rest of the night. That is the only time I have had absolutely nothing in Michigan.
You can easily adjust comfort with what you have on top as well as underneath you.

if it's going to be really hot at night, above 70*, then maybe opt for a lightweight fleece liner over a TQ.. but it is very easy to vent with a TQ and the weight probably about the same if not heavier to go with the fleece
