    REVIEW - KAMMOK Python Straps

My report for BackpackGearTest has been posted! Follow this link for the full report:

    SUMMARY

The Python Straps from KAMMOK are made from tubular polyester webbing that has been doubled over and stitched together to create 18 daisy chain connection points for a total length of 118 inches (3 m). Loops on both ends make it easy to wrap the straps around a tree or other anchor point and the loops make handy connection points.

The straps are moderately heavy (12 oz for the pair), but not terribly bulky. I think for most hangers, these straps would make a great part of their kit.

The straps work well with Dutch Clips, but hardware is not required. What I really liked about these straps was the ease-of-use: no knots, no fiddling. Just clip up or down to adjust. I used carabiners and also twig toggles successfully on these straps.

These straps are a webbing-equivalent to the looped ropes that some manufacturers use to create easy attachment points (see Trek Light Gear, Grand Trunk Goods, and others).

Thanks for the review. How would you compare these to Slap Straps? http://www.eaglesnestoutfit.com/slap-strap.html

I like the reverse image of your email address. Figure that out address harvesting bots!

One thing I found with my straps that surprised me a little. The loops on a strap give you a connection point roughly every 6". Before using these I didn't think that would be enough resolution to adjust the hang as needed. But it was.

These are the nicest straps I own. They are also the heaviest. Hang your own hang, choose your own straps. At one end of that high dimensional optimization space, these are a clear pick.

    drchip :

It appears that the big advantage of the Python straps over the Slapstraps is that the former are polyester, while the latter are nylon. My experience with Slaps (and many others as well) is that the nylon stretches unacceptably under load, making a proper set extremely difficult to obtain.

Yes, the Python Straps are non-stretching polyester, in contrast to the ENO Slap Straps.

KAMMOK did their homework with these straps. Like GrizzlyAdams, I think these straps have great utility and I'll use them, but probably not on my regular backpacking trips (my short straps and whoopie slings are spartan in comparison).

How much weight do they support? 250lbs per strap, for a total of 500lbs per set?

I'm not sure the equation equally splits the weight between the two straps. I think the 250 is the total load expected in the hammock. Remember that there are shear and tensile forces also at work that complicate the math.

    Hi all,

I know this is an old thread, was wondering if anybody knows where to buy these straps from Europe, or if there are any similar/better options appeared in the last 2 years.

    Thanks!
