1/4" Polyester camo cord, from Wallyworld. I wanted something that would give way before the tarp. Repairing a ridgeline is as easy as tying a knot; repairing a torn tarp, on the other hand...

Heh. And if your trees are that far apart, (189.4 miles) your tarp may sag to the ground from line stretch when a mosquito lands on it.

Unless you're using extremely tall trees to increase the angle. . .

Does anyone know how tall the trees would have to be to account for the curvature of the earth?

I have the whoopiesling CRL with knot bone on one end and figure 9 on the other. I think it's 30 feet. Love it!

1.13 miles, and they'd have to sit at about a 9 degree angle off of true, if my math is right. I think it is, but I've also been at work all night...

my longest hammock is 12' with 12' suspension on each end. so 36' ( that's a little extra not counting for hammock sag)

I've been thinking. On several of my recent trips, my tarp line is too short. I've started carrying extra line, but the tarp then sits off to one side. I'm considering going to the Dutchware/Whoopie Sling combo. I am in transition to gram weenie, so it would weigh a little more than my current setup, but maybe not if I do not need to take as much extra cord.
I keep my tarp in its snakeskins pre-hung at night in case of rain/wind. Would this still be rather easy with a CRL vs. one line off each end?

Yes, your snakeskin would work the same way by just slidding over everything including the ridgeline. But I don't see the need for a CRL on a tarp, as it would just be a waste of ~10ft of line, unless you were planning on hanging other items from it.
