Recommended size and shape to use as a ground tarp as well

Looking for advice for my tarp. I know I will have to go to ground somembers due to lack of twitter camping restrictions. any advice regarding a good size and shape? Thinking a simple 8x10 will cover both duties well but since I am new to this wanted some input from the forums.

I'd just use my poncho I think, if I were to go to ground, since i usually keep it folded under my hammock with my pack on it in to keep it out of the dirt and what-have-ya. 8x10 is a good size though, I think, big enough for all your gear, although I don't know if you want it sticking out past your tarp if it's raining. Might wanna keep an eye on that.

I would suggest you have a look at the tarps at bushcraft outfitters. The 10x10. They have many loops all around the perimeter so as to give you options if you go to ground, like 1/2 pyramid, lean to,, tipi etc
