Pm me payment info hobie. I always look at Barkies and have always liked the look of rampless gunnies. I need this like a hole in the head too Storm, but you never know when having a good knife might come in handy. Maybe this will stop me from spending so much **** time perusing custom knife websites...

I've got a few good ones already so I'm good. I'm in the same boat. Always wanted a rampless Barkie Gunny but I'll wait til money isn't as tight. Maybe after Christmas.

I have Hobie's paypal info I'll send you.

the BarkKniven is safe within the confines of an Empire Canvas Works Field Jacket.
My attitude is not having to think to remember to grab a knife when you put on a jacket, one should already be there.
Sadly after two rounds in the woods it will never look like it did when you sent it

Good on you BER, that is a sweet knife.
This past weekend I dropped a neck knife in basecamp-never could find it, hiked for 3 daysthinking about having worn it for almost 3 years, returned to base camp and found it in the leaves near where my hammock hung just when I was giving up---those orange scales are the way to go!

Thanks Storm and MM (and especially HobieCat for posting such a deal!). I have spent quite a bit of time the last couple weeks looking at knives I don't really have a use for (yet) but lust after all the same. I really like the look of some of the "exotic" woods that are used for scales and some of the metalwork. Some of the knives out there are absolute works of art.

    And therein lies the problem.

If I were afraid to use a tool for fear of marring it's beauty or for fear of dropping it in the leaves as you did MM, then what would be the point in having spent the money on a tool? The Barkie seems to be the best of all worlds. An excellent reputation as a fine utilitarian blade, a pleasing aesthetic shape, and garish orange scales that even I couldn't lose. Throw in the (relatively) low price as offered here that I won't feel bad using it as the tool it is.

I'm looking forward to receiving it.
    Again, thanks HobieCat!

(now if only there was a blade geometry that was ideal for some camp chores AND filleting (not gutting) Walleyes/Northern Pike/Bass so I could consolidate....oh but I dream again. And that would be a topic for another thread...)
