Stowing the bugnet, not the weathershield

My Clark Tropical has a weathershield which is optional for that model. The two pockets for storage of these two fabric pieces are both sewn above the hood at the foot end. The zipper for the weathershield runs outside of the one for the bugnet.

For this Tropical, that means the bugnet can't be stored in one of the pockets unless the weathershield is stored in the other pocket first. So, I will just roll up the bug net and fasten it away in the foot end.

But, I wondered: Is there the same design glitch with the North American model?

Yes, and it's that way on the NX models too. However on those it's easier because if you unzip the bug net the weather shield comes off with it.

On further examination, I'll hot-cut and stitch a stopped several-inch-long slit across the pocket bottom behind the zipper, so I can stash the bugnet in it from underneath. The stash pocket is there; may as well use it, even if I have to carve new access for it that goes under the zipper.

On the NX, yes, the weathershield is zippered to the bugnet. Alternatively see the bugnet as an unnecessary liner for the shield. When I've had the pair of them out at @25F, there's been no problem with it laying on top of the top quilt, open at my face, collecting frost.

I had a Tropical with the weathershield (eventually sold it due to my never using it and another person wanting it). Anyways, I never "stowed" the bugnetting. I kept a small piece of string and would just wrap the bugnetting around and around the ridgeline (ridgeline that I added inside the hammock). I'd then wrap it tight with the string and tie a pretty little bow with it. I camp in skeeter infested areas and needed to be able to deploy the netting pretty quickly. But when I wanted the netting out of the way, this tended to work very well for me. If I needed to zip up the netting, just pull the bow tied string and then stash string into one of those handy pockets inside the hammock at the head end.
