    Cub Scout Hammocker

    Hi all,

We had a cub scout campout this weekend here in Central Ohio and the temp got down to about 27degrees F on Friday evening. I am proud to report that my 8yr old son, who uses a Hennessy Expedition, slept warm and cozy all night. He used a sleeping pad and a 0degree bag. He earned the Polar Bear patch as well.

The following evening he let another scout use his hammock and the next morning he told me that he would not do that again since he had to sleep in a tent. I think my son is hooked on hammock camping and also sold the other scout on getting a Hennessy Hammock. Life is GREAT!!!

Do kids stay on pads ok? I want to take my nieces sometime, but don't have enough UQ's.

Awesome! I have two daughters (6,8) in American Heritage Girls and they want a hammock too for them to camp instead of the tent.
There are very few problems we can solve ourselves, but there is almost nothing we cannot solve together.

Most often when someone says they can't, they are unwilling to try.

So how do you get a Cubbie to look forward to go to sleep? Looks like s you found it.

Very cool! Thanks for sharing! My kids tend to do well on pads as well, and with a sleeping bag better than a top quilt.

He seemed to stay on it all night or I would have heard about it. I also had my 9-year old daughter in a Hammock Bliss with a pad that night and she said she was warm as well. I believe I can get rid of my tents now and get each of my children (7 in all) their own hammocks. Now we just enough trees to hang from

That's good to know, I guess lighter/smaller people could make adjustments easier if they had to. And I would check on them of course. I don't see how adults use pads or sleeping bags, that would drive me nuts trying to get everything in place.
Maybe I'll do another Hennessy holiday order this year, and get that Cub hammock.

My son and I are both hammockers too. The local leadership claimed that hammock camping didn't satisfy the privacy requirements for Tiger Cubs. Did you have any problems with this in your neck of the woods? It's Florida for Pete's Sake....This place is made for hammocks.
