Whatver the loss of loft of a gathered and hung indoor quilt, it is apparent that compression of the baffles along the sides acts as a sealant against convection. Who knows, compressive losses may be more than offset by reduced drafts and convection losses?

Could it be that a differential tailored UQ may be in greater need of slight thin gasketing, draft tubes, on the sides, since it does not begin to immediately press against the sides of a hammock?
