Question DIY Indoor Hammock - Crinkle Taffeta Tablecloth or Bedsheet??

Thinking about making a DIY hammock to hang indoors in my basement. So no worry about taking it outside or anything like that.

I have seen a few videos and blog posts about people making DIY hammocks with either a crinkle taffeta tablecloth or a bedsheet. I am a smaller guy (5'8" 160lbs) but I'd still like to get some info on which would hold more weight. I'll be using a continuous loop of 7/64 Amsteel to gather and whip the ends.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I made one using polyester that I found at Wallyworld. There's a video of it on my YouTube channel titled "cheap hang." I'm 5'9" and 160-165. I don't know what weight the fabric is. It's heavier than most nylons I have seen, so I'd guess 1.9 to 2.something, no stretch at all. I've had it on my porch for over a month, and I've taken it camping once. So far so good.

IMO bed sheets do not make good hammocks. The issue for me is size. Bedsheets are comparatively small. I like starting with at least 144" and precious few bed sheets can be found that size. You might be able to get thAt if you use diagonals but then you get into bias stretch. Not my idea of a good hang.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Been using the crinkle taffeta tablecloth as an indoor bed for a few years now! No problems; still working good!

    That's my vote!
