Thru-hiker has some great stuff that you can't find anywhere else, but if it is the cheapest price you found you must have missed OWFinc.com, questoutfitters.com and backwoodsdaydreamer.com who also carry great stuff at much friendlier prices.

To add to the collective reports of experience with different DIY vendors:
I just got my first order from http://www.backwoodsdaydreamer.com/
Order came in a reasonable amount of time, well packaged, and was spot on what I ordered. Shipping price was fair, although on the higher side, IMHO ($20 on a $170 order, but I had 15 yards of bulky Insultex and 16 yards of nylon, so it was a bit bulky)
Quality of everything looks good so far. The ripstop that was listed as "2nds" looks like first quality to me. BWDD's $3 ripstop is awesome. Cheaper than JoAnn ripstop even after using a 1/2 off coupon, and in much more outdoor friendly colors.

Have also ordered from QuestOutfitters.com and Arrowhead Equipment and was pleased with the speed, quality and selection there as well. Shipping costs were better than BWDD, but I didn't order as bulky stuff... so maybe not a fair comparison.

I can happily recommend both BWDD, Arrowhead, and Quest to anyone looking for DIY materials. My only regret in ordering from either is that I should have ordered more of some things, since shipping makes it hard to justify ordering just a handful of inexpensive things like thread, cord, locks, shock cord, grosgrain, etc. Speaking of shock cord...
I just have to remember to always figure out how much shock cord I'll need, then order at least 4x that amount. Don't know how I go through so much shock cord.

This is the correct link for OWF. They are great people to deal with. I've been buying materials there for many years.

I figured I would add LightHeart Gear since they have the elusive sil-nylon in woodland cammo at a fairly light weight and good price: http://www.lightheartgear.com/index....products_id=46

    Sites selling outdoor fabric

    Hi Guys,

I'd like to have a go at making some gear with Cuben Fibre.

I've found this supplier which sells Cuben by the Yard...

    [URL]www.zpacks.com/materials.shtml[URL]

Does anyone know of other Vendors selling Cuben Fibre for DIY projects?

PS. I'm in Australia so they'll need to be happy shipping Internationally....

    @simonMc,

It's nice to see that you are starting to get a bit more stock on your web site; but frankly if you are going to blow your own trumpet... the least you can do is be honest and up-front about what you are doing.... ie; blatant self-promotion...

I read your post earlier in the day when in it's original and complete form. Looks like you have edited it or been censored?? Fair enough too.

I'm looking for specific products... If you carry in stock what I'm looking for and your price is right, I may order from you... But I'm not going to go chasing after you... You'll need to find a way to keep me up to date of 'developments', news, etc...............

this thread is awesome! I just recently took up thread injecting and there is limited fabric supply where I live. I'd found a couple of vendors through the forums but this is like winning the lottery!
