I think the ability to seal the side entry against the weather would prove challenging and add considerable weight to the tarp. Have you tired pitching one side of your tarp in "porch" mode?
Sealing it can be done with a waterproof zipper. Here. They're kinda pricey (available in Germany, etc. etc..) and heavy, so it may not be practical for a hammock lightweight kit.

I am not sure I need side doors, but I say do it.
I like your design; its just what I pictured when you mentioned your idea in your first post. I dont think it will add much weight. Also, you just need to set up with the door away from the weather. I would not take the door all the way to the ridgeline.
I like the idea of this, interested to see how it might progress.
I dont know that just adding a zipper down the middle of side panel would work. What if you had a trap sized in a way to be able to set it up sideways, with small grommets on full panel sides to put suspension through? Hrmm... again, interesting idea, gonna play with this idea and see if I can figure out a way to do a good side entry.

Seems to me like you would want the door to lift up instead of sideways, this way the door could overlap the static part of the tarp and help with weatherization. You could do a length of velcro on each side, snaps or loops with ties to secure the flap.
The door shouldn't go all the way to the ground though, because you couldn't have good stability unless you staked the tarp at the bottom of the door on each side. You may have to do this anyhow.
By law, any tarps with doors that raise have to be called DeLoreans.

Yeah, it just seems to me that you don't get out of the end of your hammock, why would you get out of the end of your tarp
