Assuming a gathered end hammock and 2 ft of room at the foot end:

Fix a short loop or line to the bunch or larkshead at the foot, bringing it inside the hammock.Clip any internal frame pack to that line. The Clarks stop me from doing that, so I've hand-sewn that short loop to the channel.

I just leave mine under my hammock. I use an oversized tarp so rain has not been an issue so far.

If the weather turns bad I'll move the pack under the tarp and hang from my foot end of the hammock suspension.
THis is exactly what I do.

Depends on the weather - and critters

Depends on the weather - and critters.

Most of the time it's good weather and I lay it flat for easy access.

Don't hike much in the rain but when I do the pack is wet anyway. Then I just lay it on that large plastic bag that I carry and put under the hammock.

I see a number here also carry a large trash bag. I carry a contractor's bag which is a little thicker and larger - not much.

In windy, rainy weather I've slit it up one side, poked a small hole in the other side, slipped it onto my ridge line, slid it over the foot area of my hammock. Then slit the far side up to where it clears the hammock line, tie both bottom corners together and then a small piece of 550 cord around both upper corner corners to hold it in place. Takes about as much time as it did to read this. Works real well if your tarp is a tad on the small side for windy weather - but you have to tie them bottom corners - otherwise they just go flappin' slinging water everywhere - trust me, I know about that .

Seriously nails? Who does that? Hope you adopt one of the methods here.

I have a small biner on the haul loop which I hook on my foot end whoopie. Then I bring the hip belt up over the hammock ridge line and buckle it. Now the pack is not hanging down but totally out of the weather.

I hang mine with a Carabiner with a cord on a tree with pack cover on or hang from suspension just above head end. Works great and stay clean and dry in both cases.

Dave, I hope you only do this with trees you personally own., if not, you might want to check this site for alternate suggestions..

I have a extra hammock (netted model) that I setup under or beside my sleeping hammock.

The net hammock functions are gear storage. I don't like to place my things on the ground.

I use a piece of paracord with loops in each end. run it around a small tree, run one loop thru the other and cinch tight, hoop carabiner in the hanging loop and hook in the pack. You can raise or lower it by taking off some slack and moving the cinched loop to where you want it. no pointy things to poke a hole in your hammock or pocket when carrying it
