i use a 16 oz Gatorade. one nite i set it outside hammock and it froze. with 5 days to go i took it with me. in the side pouch. it was spotted by another hiker who said "what's that". I said "Pee". He said "You being drug tested out here?"

Well IMHO this was a benefit to the henessy entry method. You could 'sit-up', put your feet out of the hammock, and be upright enough to urinate without spilling on yourself.
I have had a bottle dump on me in the middle of the night, it is not fun. anymore, I just get out of bed. I have also been more aware of my fluid intake before going to bed, and that has helped a lot.
I ride a recumbent.
I like to HAM it up on the CW.
I use Linux.
I play go.
Of course I sleep in a hammock!
Rug.
Hang On!
I just get up and find a tree. But I have a hennessey so it's easy to sit upright with my feet out the bottom entry. When it gets real cold or wet I'm sure a bottle will come in handy.
That's what I used when I was hanging in below-zero temps in Minnesota. I'd like to see all the guys who say "just walk to the edge of camp" do so at -27F.
Of course the wide-mouth bottle helps...
Since Gatorade cheapened their bottle plastic they are not nearly as durable, but they'll do for a night or two.
I was always amazed at how full an empty 1 quart bottle would be by morning

I always just get out and write my name in the dirt or snow, what ever. I saw the Northern Lights one time when I got out to do said writing. So, there are benefits.
I did get out to do some writing again when it was 10 below last year but I haven't tried 27 below, just yet. You tend to take care of business pretty quickly in those kind of temps.

Ummmm......not getting out of the hammock to pee?? This all seems very unfair! Maybe I'll share with my son, I suppose a decent mother would....yet, maybe I won't. Heck, he'll be 14 in a few days, I think he needs to figure it out himself!!
Wait....I've been rethinking this unjust topic. I guess if my son can't figure his hammock sock out and keeps waking me up so that I can tighten his hammock sock every time he gets up, that I'll throw a bottle at him and tell him at that point "the big secret". Plus, it'll feel good to throw the bottle at him. Not abusive here....just saying
All the bottle advocates are missing the best thing about getting out of the hammock to urinate.
Doing so on your buddy's tarp.

never had to do it in a hammock ...yet..but ive done it plenty in a tent, if its too cold to get up i use snap lock sandwhich bags and turn on my side, no mess and light to carry coming in handy for plenty of things, then seal the top and pop them outside on the ground, no probs.
ps: watch where you stand in the morning.
